This is my eleventh year at Edgeworth Elementary. Every day in the library is different and that is just what I love about my job!
Working in the library lets me blend my favorite things about being a librarian: books, collaborating with the teachers, finding new ways to keep the kids excited about learning and inquisitive about the world around them. These are just some of the reasons I smile each time I unlock the library doors in the morning.
When I am not in the library, I enjoy taking hikes, trying new recipes, attempting to learn Italian and visiting family and friends. National Parks are a passion! This summer I saw 14 bears in the Great Smoky Mountains and learned that while hiking, you need to look up! (6 bears were in trees).
My Philosophy 5 Laws of Library Science by S.R. Ranganathan 1. Books* are for use. 2. Every reader his or her book. 3. Every book its reader. 4. Save the time of the reader. 5. The library is a growing organism.
*Mr. Ranganathan couldn't begin to imagine all of the places that we access information--Books are just one source! My favorite library law!--if it is growing, we must embrace change and understand that where we are today is just the beginning.
